These are my multiples portraits.

  1. YAY! I get to be the first to comment haha.

    1. Both the pictures meet the criteria, nicely done.

    2. In the room picture, I think the artist is trying to display what they'd be doing if they were bored or just passing time. In the hallway/stair photo, I think the artist is trying to portray sadness on the stairs, boredum on the chair, giving up on the bench and trying to figure out himself in the mirror. I think each one of the selfies is giving off a different mood which is interesting.

    3. None of the pictures seem to have an technical difficulties that bother me.

    4. I think the hallway/stair photo is the best one in my opinion because like I said in #3 is that each self is portraying a different mood. Also I think the idea of having the stairs shown in the photo and the long hallway because it shows perspective and that's really interesting to me.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and break (:

  2. In these two pictures I would say that the top does portray various ways of relieving boredom but the bottom one looks more like various positions of depression or anxiety. they both fit the requirements of the assignment and show no sign of photo shop error and both images look good but the second would also have to be my favorite as well.

  3. 1. These meet the criteria.
    2. In the first picture, I got that the artist may have a lot of time to "kill", hence the reaper in the background. The second picture looks like he is trying to portray some heavy emotions, maybe even depression.
    3. No technical issues.
    4. The second one is a much more powerful picture to me. I think the thought process behind the setup of everythign is wonderful. I can't decide if death in the background, coming out of the room is my favorite, or if him looking at himself in the mirror is. The reaper definately adds a lot of emotions to these photos that you wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Him holding his hand in the stairway is a very strong pose as well. You did an awesome job.

  4. 1. criteria is met.
    2. If this is your house, it looks pretty cool. Your room has a lot of interesting objects, and the angles that you shot both show off the interesting objects in your room/hallway. Incorporating the reaper also signifies that you seem to be killing time, or the idea that death is always around (a little dark, but I could be pulling at straws).

    3. The hallways photo looks slightly bright for me, but they are both very good.

    4. I enjoy the second photo more, because the distance between yourselves adds the idea of deep thinking, especially the one on the stairs. Nicely constructed.

  5. 1. The criteria for this assignment is met by both images -- 2 compositions, at least 4 selves in each. And both images clearly express underlying emotions and/or struggles.

    2. I think the two of these images contain similar messages. To me, they both take on different aspects or faces of a struggle with depression. And they are both incredibly complex and almost ingeniously put together.
My interpretations... Bare with me. Photography is all about interpretation and this is what I'm pulling out of it...
In image one, my attention is first pulled to the figure in the chair and the reaper. It's a little difficult to tell, but the figure in the chair is holding a box cutter and as a society, we've come to understand that cutting is often a release for those suffering from serious depression. And I think Joe is trying to send the message with the reaper standing overhead, that at that particular moment the individual has the choice between life and death. And that's a very dark and serious statement. But I do believe there is truth in it... Moving on to the other figures, the figure on the ground gives off an overwhelming sense of anguish. His eyes look red, and it definitely looks like he has been or is crying. And then to me, the last figure shows the exhaustion we feel after an emotional experience such as crying, or perhaps it might be a statement along the lines of giving up. Even the fact that none of these figure are fully clothed, (intentional or not) could symbolize vulnerability. It's very interesting.
The second image to me might also be a metaphor for the struggle with depression. It starts in the staircase with the powerful image of the figure breaking down, clutching his head, and then it moves to the figure looking in the mirror. Now this figure might represent the harsh criticism we put on ourselves and that might result in the figure on the bench who looks disappointed. Is he disappointed in himself? And then the struggle seems to throw itself down the hallway, banging against the walls, until we get to the last figure in the chair who seems to have given up. And it's at that point, that we yet again have the reaper lurking around the corner and/or in the shadows.

    3. You did a really nice job on these, Joe. I don't see any technical problems at all. And you used these spaces really, really well.

    4. Both of these images are incredibly bold and it's very brave of you to show this side of you. It's really admirable. I feel like both of your images are very strong in message, content, and execution. They're definitely emotionally stirring and powerful. Since I have to pick one to be my favorite, I'll choose your second image. I love that space and I think you used it in a very effective way. Your body language is also powerful. Very impressive images.

    Way to go, Joe!

  6. 1. Both images meet the criteria for the project, they both look planned and well executed.
    2. The artist shows his emotions to the viewers, they both have a sense of loneliness and separation of self.
    3. The construction and execution look to be in good shape, no apparent technical issues.
    4. I think the image in the basement is most successful because there is a large separation in the image.

  7. 1. Both images meet the criteria of the assignment.
    2. Both images portray the feelings and the always looming presence of the thought of death that come with depression.
    3. There are two technical issues, one in each photo. In the stairs you will noticed i tried to take out the green which left the wall in two different tones. And the elbow on the armchair didn't fully come through.
    4. I believe the first image is the most successful as it takes place in the space I spend most of my time.

  8. both meet the criteria of the assignment!
    These photo's are powerful!
The lighting in the top photo is great! Its impossible for me to get that kind of lighting in my house.. I like your interaction with the camera.
I wish i could see you just a little bit more in the 2nd photo..

  9. 1) The images meet the criteria or fulfill the assignment.

    2) I get the feeling that both of the images peer into the person and their state of being. Perhaps they are going through a rough patch, depression, or questioning their self-worth.

    3) There are no technical issues that I see or that bother me.

    4) They are both very well done. I love the lighting, figures, surroundings, interactions, etc. The surroundings definitely give the figures personality or convey a mood or feeling. I have to say that the second one in the hallway is the most successful. This image just strikes me. The long hallway, the emotions, peering into the mirror, the dramatic lighting, the grim reaper, just all come together perfectly.

  10. 1. Meets criteria.

    2. Very solemn and depressing images, possibly dealing with depression or thoughts of death/suicide.

    3. No technical problems.

    4. I think the first photo is the best. The placement of each body, and death looming over the chair, it's just a really well lit, placed photo.
